They remained wholly independent.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Today, Mailchimp has grown into one of the world’s largest marketing platforms, offering not only their email service, but also powerful and sophisticated marketing tools for businesses of every size. To mark their new era of growth, Mailchimp invited COLLINS to help evolve their brand to reflect and fuel their continued business transformation. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; In partnership with the in-house Brand Team, we sought to capture and elevate the ineffable Mailchimp spirit, a potent combination of wry humor, modest celebration, and a dash of absurdity. We developed a new brand system that, in each element, works to maintain a precise balance between the sophisticated and the surreal (bucking reductive, over-simplified design trends), to better chart the company’s unique path and expression. the rebrand, Airbnb was still seen as the go-to platform for budget vacation rentals. Having a presence at Art Basel Hong Kong was a strong first signal to a new segment that was still unfamiliar with the brand, the art community. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; It was important that this first interaction be a coherent one that did not come across as commercial or corporate which is how we came to create a collaborative performance space called: Airbnb Art House. We paired artists from Hong Kong with international artists and hosted them in the space to showcase their work. Giving them license to deconstruct and interpret our mission, it allowed for an interesting dialogue that would further help define Airbnb as not just a rental platform, but as a way of creating meaningful relationships between strangers.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; I was the sole designer on this project—defining the visual identity for the entirety of the event as well as producing all the collateral. The honor cements the Captain’s legacy as one of the team — and sport’s — greatest players. As a hat tip to Jeter’s incredible career, Jordan Brand takes over a bodega directly across from Yankee Stadium offering a special edition sneaker laser-etched with our type on it as well as an array of giveaways that we designed for the fans. The show’s theme was based on the Voyager Golden Records, a set of records that captured sounds and images that portrayed the diversity of life and culture on Earth.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; We searched for a solution that would respond to music and capture a moment of time — a time capsule from the live show. Collaborating with Nosaj Thing, an LA record producer, we developed a responsive tool that would react to the music he made.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The Live Experimental Spacial Instrument (LESI) constructs one-time only visual solutions based on sounds outputs. In front of some 5000 people the Collins team and Jono Brandel created a live experience with Nosaj. We also developed a companion website lesi.wearecollins.com, that will gives users a sense of the experience. move into a dedicated office building, Instagram wanted to make a strong brand statement to signal the shift from a image posting platform to a brand. The lobby has a striking visual impact that urges visitors to pull out their phones and Instagram it. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; It was important to bridge the disconnect that can happen between an employee’s everyday and the beautiful content generated by Instagram’s community. The lobby serves as a dynamic window into content created on the platform displaying content dynamically around specific themes. These content sets are displayed according to time of day and events. The screens can also be adapted to a special guest coming in by pulling up that person’s content as a way of welcoming them into the building. A gradient periodically washes over the screen to bring a calm ambient moment to the bustling Instagram headquarters.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; This project has since expanded to include other lobbies and offices that are currently in development. Partnered with the Collins strategy team around messaging and development of the Connect The Whole Wide World tagline.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The identity is a shift that signals the essential nature of the internet and the value that it brings to the world and Facebook by connecting people and ideas through its many initiatives. The system is clean. Elemental. Using only the essential visual elements from the basic Internet to express complex narratives.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The rebrand came at a crucial point in Internet.org’s public perception where the organization’s initiatives where suffering from unclear messaging in its purpose. This repositioning and rebrand aimed to reorient the Internet.org brand as a straight-forward factual voice that underlined the urgency of a connected world while being transparent about Facebook’s part of the process. Its mission is to develop and create cinema that empowers people who are marginalized by mass media and to introduce the Asian cult and genre films to the wider public. Ciné-Asie is involved in many different projects including film contests, exhibitions and film screenings at the Cinémathèque québécoise.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Their current identity and brand presence focuses more on the cultural aspect of the organization which undermines its cinematic credibility making their festival less popular than the other festivals from similar organizations. Thus, the shortening of their name signaling an organizational reorientation towards Asian cinema excellence.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; As an Asian-Canadian, I found it important as a brand exercise to redefine their brand because I strongly believe in their mission and that it would help them revitalize enthusiasm for their initiatives.
